About Side control, top

Side control top is your reward for passing the guard. You are across their chest, past their legs, and in a position to control, tire out and submit them. From here you can step to mount or knee on belly, or attack the arms and neck with the americana, kimura and arm triangle.

Stay heavy and stop the frames before they form: crossface, block the near hip, keep your chest on theirs. Most beginners lose side control by reaching for a submission too early. Settle the pin first, then attack when they move.
