About Mount, bottom

Being mounted is one of the worst positions in BJJ. Your opponent is sitting on your torso with their weight bearing down and both of your arms within their reach. Panicking and pushing with straight arms is exactly what gets people armbarred.

Protect first: elbows tight, hands guarding your neck. Then escape with the two classics. The upa (trap an arm and leg, bridge and roll them) and the elbow-knee escape (shrimp and bring a knee back inside to recover guard) work together: when one fails, the other usually opens up.
